Dear West Fresno Elementary Families,
Welcome to the Spring Semester! As you may already be aware, Superintendent Morris announced that the reopening of our schools is not an option at this time as California continues to battle the spread of the COVID-19 virus. The West Fresno Elementary School campus will remain in distance learning format until February 9th. Please read below for specific information. As a reminder, parents/guardians have the option to continue with the distance learning instructional model or the blended learning instructional model. This is a difficult and disappointing decision, and we realize this is not how we envisioned the start of the Spring Semester, but it’s the best and most prudent decision for the safety and well-being of our children, staff, and community.
Distance Learning Spring Semester Starts: January 11, 2021. All grades will be online from 8:30 – 11:30 am in an effort to provide more instructional time to our students. Please note, this is a change from the current schedule.
Blended Learning (on-line/on-campus) Spring Semester Starts:
- Grades PS-2- The week of February 8, 2021.
- Grades 3-6- The week of February 15, 2021.
- Middle School and High School- To be determined pending direction from state and local health departments.
Distance Learning Expectations: Every child will continue to be provided with grade-level appropriate activities so that they can continue to learn important academic skills while schools are in distance learning format. Instruction will be delivered through Seesaw for grades TK-2, Google Classroom for grades 3-5 and Google Meet grades TK-5. In the event that you don’t have access to the internet, curriculum will be provided in the form of packets. It is a WUSD/WFE expectation to have your child submit their work through google classroom and/or on designated packet collection dates as all assignments will be graded. Daily attendance will be required. We value your input. If you have any questions or comments about the school’s distance learning plan, please call WFE at (559) 495-5615.
WFE Safety/Health Protocols: If you visit campus for any reason, please complete the following:
- Covid-19 visitor survey before arriving on campus.
- Wear a face covering while on campus.
- Practice social distancing while on campus.
- Temperature check upon arrival.
Meal Distribution: All children 18 and younger will be eligible to pick up free meals at the following locations Monday through Friday starting: January 11, 2021
- American Union Elementary School from 7:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
- West Fresno Middle School from 7:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. (WFE families can pick up here, due to construction on our cafeteria)
- Washington Union High School from 7:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
